Job Summary

Under the direction of a program administrator, the Licensed Vocational Nurse will perform the necessary tasks to implement health policies, procedures, and emergency/medical health care plans. The incumbent will ensure health compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and California Community Care Licensing requirements. The nurse will assess, refer, and provide for the health needs of enrolled Head Start children and expectant mothers. The nurse will also develop and disseminate health education information to teachers, parents, and children.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • California Vocational Nurse License
  • Any combination equivalent to: graduation from an accredited Vocational Nurses Program and one year vocational nursing experience desirable
  • Valid California driver's license. Be insurable and maintain insurability. May be required to provide own transportation
  • Upon hire or within (6) months of hire, valid Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) approved CPR and First Aid Certification covering adult, child, and infant (pediatric) using any of the following curricula: American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Pediatric CPR and First Aid offered at accredited colleges and universities

Mandated Reporter training required within first 6 weeks of employment. Must be at least 18 years of age.
