Position Overview:

As the Head Compounding Pharmacist, reporting directly to the Director of Compounding Production, you will play a pivotal role in the strategic enhancement and expansion of our compounding capabilities. Your expertise will be crucial in developing new compounded treatments while ensuring the highest standards of quality and patient safety in compliance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all compounding staff.
  • Conduct and meticulously document compounding processes, ensuring quality assurance and control checks.
  • Provide training and performance evaluations for compounding personnel.
  • Review and authorize materials utilized in compounding activities.
  • Supervise the calibration and maintenance of compounding equipment, collaborating with the maintenance team to monitor the compounding environment.
  • Work closely with Research and Development teams to innovate and scale new compounded formulations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including USP guidelines and internal policies for the preparation of compounded medications.
  • Maintain a proactive safety mindset, particularly when handling hazardous materials, and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Engage in pharmacist-related duties, including patient consultations and error documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Pharmacist-in-charge on compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Develop and refine standard operating procedures for the compounding laboratory.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in non-sterile compounding is essential.
  • Strong mathematical skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage delicate machinery.
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on empathy and collaboration.
  • Capability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and an active Pharmacist License in Ohio are mandatory.
  • 5+ years of pharmacist experience, with at least 3 years in a compounding pharmacy setting.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
