Job Description

Whitman Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director of Database Services to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for maintaining the internal database and supporting the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Performance and Integrity: Regularly assess database performance and integrity to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Database Updates: Implement updated features on the database to enhance its capabilities.
  • Backup and Recovery: Establish backup and recovery processes to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
  • Code Design and Reporting: Design scalable code and create reports and guidelines to support database management.
  • Cybersecurity: Develop cybersecurity procedures and manage access to the database to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Technology Implementation: Implement supporting technologies and streamline workflow processes to improve efficiency.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with license agreements and organizational practices to maintain regulatory requirements.
  • Software Development Trends: Remain up to date on software development trends to ensure the database remains relevant and effective.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to assess data requirements and ensure database management aligns with business needs.
Qualifications:
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage projects effectively to meet business needs.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle confidential information to maintain data security.
  • Collaboration and Independence: Ability to both collaborate and work independently to achieve business objectives.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve database management issues.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills to manage database management projects and ensure timely completion.
  • Database Management Skills: Comprehensive understanding of programming and software design principles, as well as strong database management skills and proficiency in Salesforce, Nimble AMS, MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a technical program management environment.
  • Database Management Certification: Database management certification a plus.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience working for an association or higher education organization preferred.
