Position Summary

The extruder operator is tasked with the operation and maintenance of production lines to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. The operator must demonstrate proficiency in making necessary adjustments and decisions to consistently produce products that meet or exceed quality specifications while achieving productivity targets such as line speed, uptime, and yield. Safety and compliance with HACCP/AIB/SQF guidelines are paramount, and the operator will actively support Food Safety Culture initiatives within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance:
  • Utilizes judgment to determine acceptable variances from specifications.
  • Ensures correct equipment setup for optimal performance.
  • Conducts and documents quality checks accurately.
  • Communicates troubleshooting efforts effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Maintains proper production quantities to avoid significant over or under runs.
Changeovers and Maintenance:
  • Performs line changeovers efficiently.
  • Conducts line cleaning as required.
  • Executes preventative maintenance tasks as necessary.
Packaging Responsibilities:
  • Accurately boxes products for shipment.
  • Ensures proper labeling and identification of products.
  • Utilizes correct pallet configurations for secure transport.
  • Ensures pallets are properly secured and identified.
Safety and Housekeeping:
  • Adheres to all safety protocols, rules, and regulations.
  • Observes and complies with HACCP and SQF regulations.
  • Keeps the work area clean and organized.
  • Reports safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
Documentation:
  • Completes all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
Team Collaboration:
  • Assists fellow operators with spool handling and changeovers.
  • Participates in team initiatives and committees as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in extrusion processes is desirable.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Stable work history is preferred.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to accept new assignments.
  • Possesses mechanical aptitude and good troubleshooting skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk as needed.
