Under the general supervision of the Director of Accounting, the Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the Accounting team with the monthly financial close and various accounting-related initiatives and projects as required.
The primary duties of this position include ensuring that revenue, expenses, and balance sheet transactions are recorded in compliance with GAAP standards and the company's accounting policies.
This role is essential for maintaining a timely month-end closing process related to their specific accounting responsibilities, which includes adherence to and documentation of internal controls.
- Oversee month-end closing processes and activities to guarantee the accuracy and promptness of financial transactions, including the posting of journal entries, managing balance sheet reconciliations, and other related tasks.
- Manage monthly revenue recognition, which encompasses preparing and posting revenue-related journal entries, analyzing revenue trends by client and product, and generating various revenue reports.
- Engage in the calculation of monthly Cost of Sales (COS) accruals, including Administrative, Network, and Broker Fees.
- Collaborate closely with the Finance team to identify and explain monthly variances, necessary accruals, and respond to other accounting inquiries.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process and interim forecasting by providing analysis and review.
- Support external audit processes.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements, including identifying opportunities for automation.
- Assist with additional accounting tasks and projects as needed.
Professional Experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in an accounting role, combining both industry and public accounting experience.
- Proficient in applying US GAAP with a solid understanding of audit requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills, including knowledge of functions and pivot tables.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across departments.
- A results-oriented self-starter who can operate independently or with minimal supervision and has a proven track record in a team environment.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with a keen attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Workday Finance is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting.
