About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Technical Gameplay Designer to join our team at Gardens Interactive. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for crafting and elevating the core gameplay experience for our upcoming unannounced project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement complex gameplay systems and features using our proprietary Finite State Machine (FSM) framework.
  • Collaborate with engineering to expand and improve the FSM framework as needed.
  • Work across departments to implement player navigation, combat abilities, and progression systems.
  • Partner closely with Design leadership to ensure gameplay aligns with the vision.
  • Champion gameplay vision and goals to the team.
  • Push the gameplay experience forward through receiving and processing feedback.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a Gameplay Designer with at least one shipped title.
  • Extensive knowledge of player controls, abilities, AI, and game balance.
  • Experience working with Gameplay Ability System in Unreal Engine.
  • Experience working with AI behaviors in Unreal Engine, including Behavior Trees, Perception, and EQS.
  • Experience with Finite State Machines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of features and champion them forward.
Bonus Requirements
  • Experience in C++ for Unreal Engine.
  • Familiarity with Blueprints, animations, and/or VFX.
