This position is located at Fort Hamilton Bowling Center in Fort Hamilton, NY. • Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing.
• Operates a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources.
• Disassembles, cleans and assembles component parts and accessories, following safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment.
• Cleans other work areas and equipment, such as worktables, floors, walk-in refrigerators, etc., on an established cleaning schedule.
• Follows established sanitation procedures when handling food.
• Prepares food, weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items, mixes ingredients according to precisely written recipes, and makes cold sandwich fillings.
• Sets up and replenishes salad bar.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess.
• Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable: 1. Neatness and good grooming. 2. Dependability.

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is the local commuting area, which means living within an estimated 50-mile radius. This includes Kings, Queens, New York, Richmond, Bronx, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Essex, Union, Middlesex, Somerset, Monmouth, and Fairfield counties. This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.

A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400.

A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of .

Incentives will not be paid. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
