ACADEMIC GASTROENTEROLOGIST
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team within the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a full-time, board certified or board eligible Gastroenterologist. This position is integral to our esteemed multidisciplinary Inflammatory Bowel Disease program, which provides care for a diverse and complex patient population suffering from inflammatory bowel disease.
Our IBD faculty members work collaboratively with specialists in colorectal surgery, IBD pharmacy, and dedicated social work services to ensure comprehensive patient care. In addition to clinical responsibilities, faculty members are expected to engage in clinical research and provide education to trainees regarding the management of IBD patients. The anticipated faculty rank for this position is at the level of Assistant Professor or higher, with final rank, tenure status, and compensation determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
To qualify for this role, candidates must possess an MD/DO degree from an accredited institution (or its foreign equivalent) and be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in Maryland. Board certification is also required.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical and interpersonal skills, enabling effective consultations in both outpatient and inpatient settings, mentorship of fellows, supervision of advanced practice providers, and proficiency in routine endoscopic procedures. Experience in clinical research is highly desirable.
