We are seeking a highly skilled Research and Development Engineer to join our team at Plastic Executive Recruiters. As an R&D Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing product development and process optimization efforts in our plastics manufacturing division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Improvement: Lead process improvements to enhance the performance, efficiency, and quality of new and existing products.
- R&D Product Trials: Conduct R&D product trials to validate new concepts, modifications, and product enhancements.
- Root Cause Analysis: Perform root cause analysis to diagnose issues and create forward-thinking solutions.
- Training and Development: Train team members on updated and new processes, ensuring seamless implementation and operational excellence.
- Material Research: Research and source alternative materials and additives to support our sustainability goals in plastics manufacturing.
- Project Management: Manage the stage gate process for product launches, resin qualifications, and product extensions.
- Testing and Analysis: Develop detailed testing protocols, perform cost analysis, and deliver comprehensive reports on findings.
- Team Supervision: Supervise and mentor R&D technicians to ensure project success.
- Project Execution: Utilize project management skills to oversee and execute multiple R&D initiatives on time.
- Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets, extracting insights to drive product innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in plastics manufacturing, with a focus on R&D and extrusion processes.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with materials such as LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE, PET, mPE, EVA, PP, PHA, PLA, or similar.
- Knowledge of Additives: Experience working with plastic additives such as UV stabilizers, plasticizers, processing aids, antioxidants, and colorants.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and timelines.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical skills for managing large datasets and turning insights into actionable solutions.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving capabilities, coupled with a willingness to adapt and innovate.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience in training and leading cross-functional teams.
