Position Overview:
The Clinical Triage Nurse is responsible for overseeing triage operations within a call center environment, providing essential nursing services to a diverse patient population, including adults, seniors, children, and pregnant women.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage incoming patient calls and respond to health-related inquiries, ensuring adherence to established clinical protocols.
- Assess patient needs and provide appropriate guidance, ensuring compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.
- Identify urgent medical situations and facilitate access to necessary care, utilizing established triage protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care and maintain effective communication within the clinical team.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage documentation in the electronic health record system accurately and timely.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with medical practices and maintain licensure.
Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State of California.
- Experience in outpatient clinical settings, particularly in triage or call center environments.
- Knowledge of community health regulations and experience with government health programs is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and basic computer applications.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and schedules.
Work Environment:
The role is situated within a medical clinic, providing a clean and comfortable workspace. The position may involve exposure to emotionally distressed patients and requires adherence to safety protocols.
Physical Requirements:
Includes standing, walking, and utilizing standard office equipment.
