About the Role

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist Level II to join our team in Miami, Florida.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform microbiological, molecular biological, and immunological tests on body specimens to provide data for treatment and diagnosis of disease.
  • Verify specimen identification with physicians' orders, prepare specimens for testing, and handle all specimens safely and carefully.
  • Analyze test results, interpret abnormal or unusual results, and research patient data for evaluation and sign-out by pathologists.
  • Calibrate equipment, order supplies, and maintain inventory of relevant forms and materials.
  • Recognize test inconsistencies, take corrective action, and support laboratory coworkers in resolving similar problems.
  • Administer quality-control tests, maintain data recording, and assume lead duties as a resource to staff.
  • Orient and train employees on laboratory techniques and operations, adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Possession of a current Florida State Medical Technologist License in Hematology, Chemistry, Immunohematology, Immunology, and Microbiology.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Laboratory lead position responsibilities, including scheduling, daily operations, resolving issues, and assisting supervisors, managers, and directors.
