Position Overview

W&A Engineering, LLC is a dynamic, multidisciplinary organization specializing in civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, and program management. We are currently in search of a qualified and experienced licensed surveyor to take on the role of Director of Surveying.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and implement departmental goals that align with the overarching mission of the organization.
  • Inspire and guide a team to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of departmental activities.
  • Ensure departmental performance meets established goals and standards.
  • Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Facilitate staff training and development opportunities.
  • Participate in budget planning and resource allocation to meet departmental needs.
  • Advise management on the execution of company policies and initiatives.
  • Review and authorize employee time-off requests and project billing.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures to enhance productivity and quality assurance.
  • Monitor and report on departmental progress to the leadership team.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Analyze departmental efficiency and profitability.
  • Engage in proposal writing and contract review processes.
  • Allocate resources effectively to maximize productivity and return on investment.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and market conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Act as a representative of the company in professional networks and community engagements.
  • Maintain a focus on client satisfaction and growth.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and technical proficiency.
  • Mitigate risks within the department.
  • Lead and participate in organizational meetings and processes.
  • Manage billing, invoicing, and collections.
  • Collaborate with HR to recruit additional team members as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a PLS/RLS license, preferably in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain one upon hiring.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing a large surveying department within a multi-service engineering firm.
  • Hands-on experience with financial management, including budgets and profit/loss analysis.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
  • Experience in implementing effective policies and procedures across multiple offices.
