Head of Surveying Operations

We are currently in search of a qualified and experienced licensed surveyor to take on the role of Director of Surveying.
Key Responsibilities- Define and implement departmental goals that align with the overarching mission of the organization.
- Inspire and guide a team to achieve departmental objectives.
- Oversee the planning and coordination of departmental activities.
- Ensure departmental performance meets established goals and standards.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
- Facilitate staff training and development opportunities.
- Participate in budget planning and resource allocation to meet departmental needs.
- Advise management on the execution of company policies and initiatives.
- Review and authorize employee time-off requests and project billing.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures to enhance productivity and quality assurance.
- Monitor and report on departmental progress to the leadership team.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Analyze departmental efficiency and profitability.
- Engage in proposal writing and contract review processes.
- Allocate resources effectively to maximize productivity and return on investment.
- Stay informed on industry trends and market conditions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Act as a representative of the company in professional networks and community engagements.
- Maintain a focus on client satisfaction and growth.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and technical proficiency.
- Mitigate risks within the department.
- Lead and participate in organizational meetings and processes.
- Manage billing, invoicing, and collections.
- Collaborate with HR to recruit additional team members as necessary.
- Possession of a PLS/RLS license, preferably in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain one upon hiring.
- Proven experience in developing and managing a large surveying department within a multi-service engineering firm.
- Hands-on experience with financial management, including budgets and profit/loss analysis.
- Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
- Experience in implementing effective policies and procedures across multiple offices.
