We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Materials Inspector to join our Portland, OR team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials used in our projects. Your expertise will be crucial in reviewing plans and specifications, performing inspections and testing, and providing accurate test reports and daily diaries. Key responsibilities include:
  • Obtaining representative samples of construction materials
  • Reviewing plans and specifications for project requirements
  • Performing inspections and testing for rebar, epoxy, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, bolting, asphalt, and other items
  • Providing the testing lab with all required information related to samples obtained
  • Providing accurate test reports and daily diaries
  • Tracking time and supplies for the projects worked
  • Tracking training hours on provided documentation
  • Returning calls or emails within a reasonable time period
  • Maintaining a professional image
  • Maintaining assigned gear in clean and operable condition
  • Completing timecards and expense reports at the end of each shift
  • Completing all required safety reporting
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a high school graduate or education level commensurate with position requirements, with strong mechanical aptitude. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are also essential. Additionally, you will need to be self-motivated, flexible and adaptable, with the ability to prioritize and work well with other employees and construction-related personnel. Technical requirements include pursuing and maintaining relevant certifications such as ICC, Firestop, ACI, and WAQTC, as well as general computer skills such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
