Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Retail Construction Superintendent to oversee the on-site management and coordination of retail construction projects. The ideal candidate will ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring adherence to the project schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Manage and supervise subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance with project timelines, safety regulations, and scope.
  • Monitor work to ensure it meets design specifications and client expectations, performing regular inspections throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain construction schedules and ensure timely completion of key milestones.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure OSHA compliance on-site, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, project managers, and inspectors, ensuring clear communication and issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, change orders, and project reports.
  • Identify potential issues or delays early and proactively develop solutions to keep projects on track.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a superintendent, preferably in retail or commercial construction.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes, including familiarity with Portland's permitting process.
  • Proven experience managing multiple subcontractors and construction crews.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, subcontractors, and city officials.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is required or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between job sites.
  • Experience in fast-track retail projects, tenant improvements, or multi-site rollouts.
  • Familiarity with LEED or sustainable building practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.
