Job Title: Chemical Waste Management Specialist

Job Overview:

The Chemical Waste Management Specialist role is designed to facilitate the effective coordination and responsible disposal of hazardous materials for clients. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks, including the collection, classification, processing, and documentation of waste management activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the classification of chemicals based on hazard categories.
  • Package and unpack compatible substances in suitable containers, preparing them for treatment or transport.
  • Ensure accurate identification of waste and oversee its proper disposal.
  • Inspect waste containers and execute disposal procedures in accordance with standard operating protocols.
  • Complete all necessary documentation associated with waste management tasks.
  • Prepare, label, and segregate consumer products and labpack materials for final disposal.
  • Maintain logs and other records essential for tracking and billing purposes.
  • Conduct compatibility testing of materials prior to consolidation for disposal; combine materials in drums or dispose of them directly in treatment systems.
  • Utilize chemical expertise to assist in the safe disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Receive and unload shipments of waste materials, verifying the contents against packing slips.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in operational areas, including walls, pipes, and floors.
  • Possess foundational knowledge of high-hazard materials management, cylinder handling, hazardous waste generation, and related practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Position Type: This is a Contract-to-Hire position.

Work Environment:

This role is conducted on-site. Candidates should be prepared to work overtime as needed, which may enhance cross-training opportunities in other departments. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators and Hazmat suits will be required, and candidates should be aware of the physical demands associated with this position.

Schedule:

1st Shift | Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4/5/6 PM
