Mayo Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to serve as the Longitudinal Patient Record Product Owner. This role will collaborate with the Product Manager and Delivery Leader to deliver on Objectives and Key Results that have been agreed upon by Executive Leadership and key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with experience in building data pipelines and leading data engineering teams. They will be responsible for giving technical direction and guidance to the Product Teams and executing on Product Strategy as defined by the Product Manager.

Key responsibilities will include leading data design, prototype, and development of data pipeline architecture pipelines, as well as implementing internal process improvements such as automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.

The successful candidate will have excellent analytic skills associated with working on unstructured datasets, and will be able to understand the architecture and communicate technical discussions effectively. They will also be a senior individual contributor of the Data or Software Engineering teams, and will be part of the Technical Review Board along with Manager and Principal Engineer.

Additional responsibilities will include collaborating with software engineers to analyze, develop, and test functional requirements, writing clean, maintainable code, and performing peer code-reviews. The ideal candidate will also be able to mentor and coach engineers, work with team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility, and work in an Agile/Safe/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software.

Requirements for the role include a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 6 years of experience, or an Associate's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 8 years of experience. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Additional requirements include in-depth knowledge of data engineering and building data pipelines with a minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, data science, or analytical modeling, and basic knowledge of related disciplines. The ideal candidate will also have experience working and leading Data Engineering teams in Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery model, building/leading Data products highly resilient in nature, and building/leading Test Automation suites, Unit Testing coverage, Data Quality, Monitoring & Observability.

Preferred qualifications include experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, AWS, Continuous Integration using Jenkins, Git Hub Actions or Azure Pipelines, experience with cloud technologies, development, and deployment, experience with tools like Jira, GitHub, SharePoint, Azure Boards, experience using advanced data processing solutions/capabilities such as Apache Spark, Hive, Airflow, and Kafka, GCP Dataflow, experience using big data, statistics, and knowledge of data-related aspects of machine learning, experience with Google BigQuery, FHIR APIs, and Vertex AI, knowledge of how workflow scheduling solutions such as Apache Airflow and Google Composer relate to data systems, and knowledge of using Infrastructure as code (Kubernetes, Docker) in a cloud environment.
