Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Composite Materials Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Safran Aerospace Composites. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing of 3D woven composite engine components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the part manufacturing process
  • Create and update procedures and work instructions while considering operator feedback, equipment, process data, and customer requirements
  • Mentor other engineers on best practices, workstation design, cost reduction, and process improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and update SPC database for current production parts to detect and prevent process drifts
  • Work side by side with production to improve the process and successfully train operators
  • Participate in MRB review of discrepant parts, including root cause and corrective actions
  • Work with data team to develop efficient and useful reporting tools
  • Summarize, prepare, and deliver technical presentations to engineering and management
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation; coordinate and implement solutions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant technical degree
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred
  • Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes and tooling preferred
  • Majority of time to be spent on the production floor working with equipment, processes, and manufacturing personnel
  • Understanding of engineering drawings
  • Self-starter with the ability to deal with ambiguity and work independently with limited direction
  • Requires a strict attention to detail and strong project management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with automation of manufacturing processes is preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and a passion for sharing knowledge and teaching others

Working Conditions:

Lighting and temperature are adequate. Employee regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Protective footwear must be worn in manufacturing areas, approximately 50% of a standard work day. Protective eyewear must be worn in manufacturing areas, approximately 80% of a standard work day.
