Elevator Inspector II Job Description

Job Summary:

The State of Maryland is seeking a highly skilled Elevator Inspector II to join our team. As an Elevator Inspector II, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of the general public by conducting inspections and investigations related to the installation and operation of elevator units in Maryland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect elevator units at various locations throughout the state for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and manufacturers' requirements.
  • Work with building owners and contractors to observe and test equipment, and perform accident investigations.
  • Deliver and enforce state elevator citations per office policy.
  • Prepare and submit inspection activity reports, including daily activity reports, inspection checklists, safety order forms, reports, expenses, and state vehicle fleet sheets.
  • Enter time and expenses in Jurisdiction Online.
  • Assist in maintaining a library of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of experience performing safety inspections of elevators and related devices for a federal, state, or local regulatory inspection program.
  • QEI Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Report writing experience.
  • Investigative background experience.
