Job Summary

The Manager Plant Quality is responsible for ensuring food safety and quality of all products produced in the plant. This includes defining specifications, communicating with employees, and performing inspections to ensure compliance with food laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures, as well as OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Ensure all plant personnel adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMP), including proper waste disposal and personal hygiene.
  • Develop and present a complete orientation process for employees, providing training in food safety and quality concepts.
  • Work closely with Operations and Maintenance to drive food safety and quality ownership to the floor.
  • Train and develop subordinates in their duties.
  • Manage plant timelines and critical milestones for the Food Safety and Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Interpret, analyze, and communicate quality and food safety issues, both internal and external.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agency requirements.
  • Liaison with local USDA and FDA inspectors.
  • Provide leadership for compliance to food safety and quality programs.
  • Implement and maintain quality programs, including HACCP and SQF certification.
Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Biology, Food Science, or related field.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to train and teach others.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical documents.
  • Ability to respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Ability to present information to top management and public groups.
  • Skills in monitoring and measurement of process control, auditing, and manufacturing of food products.
Physical Requirements

The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, frequently required to stand and walk, and occasionally required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
