Job Description

Sigma Defense is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Senior Network Engineer - Convergent Communications Specialist. This position will play a critical role in the development and modernization of Government systems, sub-systems, and components through engineering integrations.

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in DoD or other Government Unclassified and Classified Systems/Networks, Cisco Routing and Switching, Network Engineering, Network Testing, and Implementation Planning. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage and prioritize tasks and ensure optimum productivity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the development and modernization of Government Networks via Software defined capability or similar engineering integrations. They will also support the improvement of WAN/LAN posture leading architecture research and design in support of current and future Naval Requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with development and modernization of Government systems, sub-systems, and components through engineering integrations.
  • Assist with development and modernization of Government Networks via Software defined capability or similar engineering integrations.
  • Support improvement of WAN/LAN posture leading architecture research and design in support of current and future Naval Requirements.
  • Provide engineering change support to the In-Service Engineering Activity team via on-site services on equipment/systems to perform Cisco-based troubleshooting, identification of root cause and correction of other system-specific faults and failures.
  • Participate in numerous Network integration and testing support events within Government test facilities in support of system interoperability.
  • Perform technical document reviews and participate in technical working groups.

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of experience in DoD or other Government Unclassified and Classified Systems/Networks, Cisco Routing and Switching, Network Engineering, Network Testing, and Implementation Planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and ensure optimum productivity.
  • Ability to work with Network related hardware and software.
  • Ability to conduct research on Cisco or other related Network hardware components.
  • Ability to conduct testing and regression testing on Government facilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite Products, and PC hardware architecture.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, independently, and to take initiative.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and implement technical concepts.
  • Ability to work well with other Engineering focus groups and personnel ranging from Junior to Chief Network, Systems, or Cyber Engineers.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field of study.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess an active, DoD issued Secret security clearance.
  • A clearance will be sponsored for the right candidate.

Mandatory Certifications:

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II - Security+ (or equivalent) and CCNA; CCNP is preferred.
