Job Summary

Continental Express, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Load Planner to join its corporate office. This role requires a candidate who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks effectively, and contribute to the overall efficiency of transportation operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Freight Planning and Coordination: Plan and coordinate customer freight pickups and deliveries to ensure timely execution.
  • Capacity Management: Monitor daily capacity needs and opportunities, and proactively communicate with fleet managers and customer service teams to optimize operations.
  • Network Optimization: Collaborate with operations personnel to execute network optimization plans, eliminating long-term and short-term imbalances, and ensuring customer service commitments are met.
  • Route Planning and Optimization: Review driver's Hours of Service Logs to identify available hours and optimize route planning.
  • Trailer Pool Management: Assist in managing trailer pools in designated markets to maximize efficiency.
  • Communication and Coordination: Maintain direct contact with team members to coordinate and increase the efficiency of driver, truck, and trailer assignments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to minimize dwell times, re-appoint loads, and convert to drop trailer pools with customers.
  • Customer Service and KPIs: Understand area customer KPIs, including trailer pool requirements, service numbers, and commitments.
  • Financial Performance and Service Levels: Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities to enhance financial performance and service levels.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business or logistics, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Three years of experience in motor carrier operations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to maintain high accuracy in preparing and entering information, strong communication and leadership skills, with a positive attitude towards drivers, staff, and supervisors.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to organize, direct, and manage multiple tasks in a changing complex environment.
