Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Spanish Linguist to join our team. As a Language Specialist, you will be responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English. Your expertise will be crucial in collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding colloquialisms and slang terms. You will also be responsible for extracting pertinent information and communicating it to law enforcement agents.
Key Responsibilities- Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopses and transcriptions as applicable.
- Relate all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
- Contribute to a master-list of slang words and codes used by a particular group/organization for the duration of the project/case.
- Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
- Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by your supervisor.
- Produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
- Use various reference tools created during the project.
- Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
- Operate specialized software equipment provided by the government, including JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment used at your assigned site.
- Maintain a daily log of productivity.
- Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in a professional setting, or Associate degree and five years of experience, or High School Diploma and seven years of experience.
- Minimum of one year of transcription experience in the required language.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
- Favorable credit check for all cleared positions.
- Successfully passing a background investigation, medical, and drug screen.
- Ability to type 45 words per minute.
- Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to attend meetings with other managers and employees.
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0% - 10% of the time.
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 0% - 10% of the time.
- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write, type, and use a telephone system 100% of the time.
- Sitting: Sitting for prolonged and extended periods of time while monitoring live or taped calls. Ability to leave desk may be restricted when handling live monitoring and translating of calls.
