Mountain View Hospital is seeking a dedicated Admissions Clerk to become part of our dynamic team.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Facilitate the smooth and organized admission process for outpatient testing and procedures. Ensure that patient information is accurately collected and entered into the computer system, while making certain that all patients are informed of Urgent Care policies and procedures. Conduct interviews with incoming patients or their representatives and input necessary admission data into the system. Distribute relevant information to all ancillary departments. It is essential to maintain a quarterly accuracy rate of 95% on all admissions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Admissions Clerk will:

  • Register patients for outpatient testing and procedures, ensuring personal information is collected or verified, including emergency contacts and insurance details.
  • Obtain signatures on necessary admission forms.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly with supervisors, nurse managers, colleagues, and physicians.
  • Process patient payments or co-payments as required, accurately posting transactions to the system while managing the cash drawer.
  • Maintain departmental records, reports, and files as necessary.
  • Stay informed about Urgent Care policies and available services.
  • Exhibit flexibility, organization, and the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, ensuring confidentiality of records.
  • Foster positive working relationships within the department and across other departments.
  • Participate in educational programs, complete annual training requirements, and attend mandatory meetings.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Accept and complete additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly performance evaluations.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping in accordance with Urgent Care policy.
  • Answer incoming calls professionally and promptly.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform other necessary duties as required.
  • Comply with all PCI standards and company policies regarding payment card acceptance and security.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent. Current BLS Certification is required.

Experience: A minimum of one to three months of related experience and/or training; a combination of education and experience may be considered.

Equipment/Technology: Proficiency in using hospital information systems and basic computer functions.

Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. Effective verbal communication skills are essential.

Mathematical Skills: Competence in basic arithmetic operations and the ability to interpret data accurately.

Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong teamwork abilities are essential for this role.
