Position Title: Warehouse Operations Supervisor

Reports To: Warehouse or Branch Manager

Overview: Responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, tools, equipment, and products in accordance with company protocols. Prepares orders for clients (both internal and external) and ensures proper loading procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements operational procedures for activities such as verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, managing materials, and maintaining accurate warehouse inventory.
  • Takes a leadership role in overseeing warehouse functions and enhancing processes such as RF and Consignment.
  • Ensures precise inventory counts at both branch and consignment sites.
  • Conducts inspections of the warehouse and equipment, alerting the branch manager to any safety or equipment concerns.
  • Interprets shipment schedules, sales orders, work orders, transfer orders, or purchase orders to identify items to be moved, collected, or distributed.
  • Facilitates the movement of materials and items throughout the warehouse/dock or to designated areas.
  • Organizes and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to a predetermined sequence based on location, size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Processes sales orders, work orders, transfer orders, purchase orders, and other items, distributing them to the shipping area and delivery vehicles.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and positions orders on pallets or shelves, or transports them to the shipping department, loading dock, or delivery vehicle.
  • Labels materials with identifying information.
  • Unpacks bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Records quantities of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution within the warehouse to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Arranges stock parts in specified order for transport by other personnel.
  • Utilizes computer systems to maintain records.
  • Compiles worksheets or tickets based on customer specifications.
  • Operates a forklift to move stored items around the warehouse and loading dock from various locations for shipment.
  • Completes reorder forms to procure supplies.
  • Prepares packages for parcel shipping or freight carriers.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records.
  • Performs additional duties as required by business needs.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED); or a minimum of three months of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Proficient in writing correspondence.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in various units of measure, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Problem-solving skills to address various situations.
  • Proficient in using computers for tasks such as inventory management, material receiving, order shipments, vendor returns, and file management.
  • Forklift operator certification may be required or obtained.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 100 pounds intermittently and 40 pounds continuously throughout the work shift.
  • Standing: Ability to stand for extended periods while performing tasks.
  • Carrying: Ability to transport objects from one location to another.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to maneuver a pallet jack and loaded pallets.
  • Climbing: Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and ramps while carrying materials.
  • Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Ability to bend down, forward, or at the waist, requiring full use of lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Handling: Ability to grasp and manipulate objects requiring full use of fingers, hands, arms, and torso.
  • Vision: Ability to see clearly at various distances, in color, and to focus on reading shipping documents, product labels, and receipts.

Work Environment:

  • Exposed to extreme temperatures, typically ranging from 30°F to 100°F for extended periods.
  • Subject to weather conditions such as rain or fog.
  • Exposed to hazards including moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and working at heights.
  • Moderate to high noise levels present.
