Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in driving factory improvements, product manufacturing integration, costing, and BOM/Routing set-up. This position will work closely with production to implement improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Improve manufacturing documentation, including process routing, costing, and BOM implementation.
  • Train production employees on defined assembly processes, using work instructions developed by engineering.
  • Perform load tests and create detailed reports on findings and recommendations to improve product.
  • Develop skills as the backup programmer for CNC routers, laser, and robotic equipment.
  • Improve basic work procedures for the operations team, including basic QC instructions.
  • Improve flow and productivity in operations areas.
  • Collaborate with Tooling and Production to determine optimum equipment and tooling needs to reduce cost and lead-times.
  • Coordinate with Production to identify best manufacturing processes that reduce cost and improve flow.
  • Engineer problem-solving of client and product issues.
  • Resolve quality issues related to manufacturing and design.
Requirements
  • Good working knowledge of fabrication processes and equipment in a tube bending and welding facility.
  • Ability to read and create basic drawings with tolerances and sub-assemblies.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles in a high-volume assembly environment.
  • Basic understanding of QC processes and metrics.
  • Experience with BOM, routers, and costing within a main frame-based platform.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, SolidWorks, and Surf Cam (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment.
  • Ability to take on new projects and process improvements.
  • 2 years of technical or on-the-job training in the above job categories.
  • Demonstrated work history of progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAD/CAM, and other engineering software.
  • Ability to work well with others in an office and manufacturing shop environment, possess good work ethics, and a positive attitude.
