Vice President, Alternatives Advisory Practice

Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our Alternatives Advisory Practice as a Vice President. This role will involve analyzing and sourcing investment opportunities across private markets and hedge funds, as well as monitoring legacy portfolios and structuring bespoke alternatives portfolios for clients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough research and analysis of potential private fund investment opportunities, including evaluating track records, strategies, and teams.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with fund managers in the U.S. and Europe to position Northern Trust for investment.
- Monitor existing fund portfolios and develop insights into fund performance.
- Collaborate with clients to implement investment strategies and provide portfolio monitoring services.
- Assist with special projects, such as writing industry white papers and compiling ad hoc reports.
- Strong analytical and judgment skills, with the ability to assess both quantitative and qualitative aspects of an investment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the group before investors and other stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of private investments, hedge funds, and deal structures.
- Understanding of portfolio construction and fund leverage/cash management.
- Intellectual curiosity and a humble approach to investing.
- Undergraduate degree required, MBA highly preferred.
- 5-10 years of work experience in private equity, private credit/lending, investment banking, consulting, or other alternatives asset management.
