Job Overview

Position Summary: The primary function of a Customer Service Representative is to deliver outstanding customer support and facilitate transactions for clients purchasing home furnishings and appliances. Key responsibilities encompass managing cash and credit transactions with precision, clarifying financing alternatives, and ensuring a smooth checkout process for every customer. Customer Service Representatives play a vital role in helping the store achieve its sales and customer service objectives by ensuring efficient payment processing. This role requires comfort in engaging with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders, often necessitating extended periods of standing.

Core Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Customer Service Representative include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide exceptional customer service in alignment with company standards.
  • Assist customers face-to-face throughout the purchasing journey, including payment processing, financing options, and managing pickups and deliveries.
  • Support team members and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Accurately and efficiently process cash, credit card, and check transactions.
  • Verify and reconcile daily cash registers, ensuring proper accounting of funds while adhering to security protocols.
  • Manage returns, refunds, and exchanges in accordance with store policies.
  • Follow security measures to deter theft and maintain a safe workplace.
  • Stay informed about current promotions and advertised merchandise.
  • Direct all incoming calls to the appropriate personnel and ensure timely message delivery to sales staff.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers.
  • Complete and file necessary store reports daily, ensuring timely submission to the corporate office.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all credit policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ensure cash is balanced at the start and end of shifts, as well as during breaks and when closing the store.
  • Safely execute daily cash drops according to company guidelines.
  • Keep the cashier area organized and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Perform all job duties with integrity and honesty.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by store management.
Required Qualifications:
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Outgoing and engaging personality, eager to interact with customers both in person and over the phone.
  • Friendly and helpful demeanor towards customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology systems.
  • Receptive to coaching and feedback.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in cashiering or retail is preferred.
  • Strong mathematical abilities and attention to detail.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; regular attendance is essential.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and project a positive company image.
Work Environment:
  • Work is conducted in a retail store setting.
  • Physical demands include standing for extended periods, packing and lifting boxes for shipment, managing inventory, and utilizing technology and computers.
