We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team at Atlantic Constructors, Inc. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products using various equipment and tools.
Key Responsibilities- Install distribution lines and equipment according to plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Install joints of duct, including slide and drive, TDF, snap lock, and other assemblies as required.
- Review and convert blueprint specifications into shop drawings for construction or assembly of sheet metal products.
- Erect and install equipment such as air handling units, VAV boxes, fan power boxes, and others as required.
- Work safely and comply with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Install ductless mini-splits.
- Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences, required methods, materials, using blueprints, drawings, written or verbal instructions.
- Fasten seams or joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, or bonds to assemble components to products or to repair sheet metal items.
- Fabricate ducts for high-efficiency heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maximize efficiency of systems.
- Select gauges or types of sheet metal or nonmetallic material, according to product specifications.
- Train and mentor helper/trainees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of experience in sheet metal mechanic field; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
- Familiarity with ductmate, spiral, slide and drive ductwork.
- Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Ability to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history).
- Ability to adhere to all company policy and procedures.
- Ability to be available and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned.
- May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness.
- May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including dust.
- May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights.
- This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools.
- While performing duties of the job, the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- May require travel.
- Prior military experience.
- HS diploma or GED equivalent.
