Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Operations Manager to join our team at Ilisagvik College.

Estimated Salary: $86,452.11/year + DOE

This is an exempt position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance & Operations, promote and support a positive safety culture within the institutional setting.
  • Assist with daily operations of M&O, including supervising temporary maintenance staff and directing them in the maintenance of buildings and grounds.
  • Oversee the functioning of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, fire/life safety, renovation projects, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Plan for work activities based on work priority, skill of personnel, equipment availability, and weather conditions.
  • Evaluate work to assure quality and perform routine and advanced maintenance tasks, facilitate inspections, equipment, and grounds, and unscheduled repairs.
  • Demonstrated skills in reading and evaluating blueprints and/or technical schematics.
  • Work closely with the Safety & Compliance Technician/Specialist to ensure preventive maintenance and overall repairs.
  • Provide a safe and healthy workplace free from recognized hazards and take necessary steps to reduce employee risk of exposure to COVID-19.
  • Responsible for recommending and implementing renovation projects of facilities to maximize funding allocations.
  • Reduce the frequency and severity of accidental losses and achieve a workplace environment committed to safety and loss prevention.
  • Operate heavy equipment as necessary and monitor and report on all automated systems within the facilities.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with other personnel, landlords, vendors, contractors, public, and non-public entities.
  • Perform purchase requisition processing, obtain quotes from vendors, availability, and shipping costs.
  • Comply with College policies, procedures, and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and skills in one or more of the following trades: carpentry, electrical, heating, and plumbing.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough institutions, and organizations.
