Position Overview:


The Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing diagnostic imaging procedures within established professional standards. This role involves preparing patients and equipment for imaging, ensuring the availability of necessary supplies, and maintaining a safe environment for all procedures.

The specialist produces high-quality images while managing multiple assignments and various types of examinations daily. Proficiency in operating standard radiographic equipment is essential, adhering to safety protocols and professional guidelines.

Utilizing the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle, the specialist ensures patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process. This position also includes collaboration with students from accredited educational programs.



Key Responsibilities:


Core responsibilities include delivering healthcare services in accordance with established agreements and protocols. The specialist must operate within their competency boundaries, guided by their education, training, and professional credentials.

Effective communication with the healthcare team is vital to address patient inquiries and concerns. The specialist ensures the accuracy of imaging techniques and documentation, demonstrating flexibility to meet patient care demands.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Interpreting patient requisitions and ensuring a hazard-free imaging environment.
  • Providing attentive care to patients during procedures and addressing any immediate concerns.
  • Administering life support measures when necessary and following established imaging protocols.
  • Maintaining current licensure and certifications while adhering to departmental policies and standards.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Managing patient flow efficiently to minimize delays and ensure timely service delivery.
  • Documenting incidents and variances during procedures and reporting them to supervisors as needed.

Additionally, the specialist is expected to uphold a high standard of customer service, demonstrating professionalism and respect in all interactions.

Maintaining inventory and ensuring the availability of supplies is also part of the role, along with compliance with safety regulations and protocols.

Finally, the specialist is committed to continuous professional development and maintaining confidentiality regarding patient information.



Qualifications:


Applicants should possess an Associate's degree in Radiology or a similar accredited program. Certification in Radiography from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within a specified timeframe.

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and various imaging equipment is essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Physical demands include the ability to lift and move patients and equipment, as well as standing for extended periods. The work environment may involve exposure to radiation and other safety hazards, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
