Job Summary:

Woodruff & Sons Inc is seeking a skilled Construction Pipeline Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for installing various pipelines, working closely with the crew, top man, and operator to ensure seamless execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the crew on pipe stringing and placement.
  • Work with the top man and operator to position pipe in the ditch.
  • Identify and expose existing utilities, bringing them to the attention of the operator.
  • Position yourself clearly visible to the operator when giving signals.
  • Ensure proper softeners are in place for the excavator bucket before inserting the pipe.
  • Verify the correct travel length of the pipe by marking the bell length on the spigot.
  • Double-check installed pipe with a pocket level and visually inspect the new joint.
  • Install marking identification tape over the pipeline before backfill.
  • Compact the pipeline to the springline of the pipe using a pogo stick or tamp.
  • Protect newly installed pipelines from damage and dirt/trash ingress.
  • Have a temporary night plug nearby for quick installation.
  • Inspect delivered pipe and fittings for conformance and defects.
  • Bolt up fittings and pipe configurations ahead of excavation operations.
  • Assist the foreman in laser setup and monitor accuracy throughout the day.
  • Ensure proper bedding is in place and leveled to the proper grade.
  • Participate in other required activities, such as well pointing, constructing invert channels, or masonry work.
  • Test pipelines, maintain jobsite housekeeping, and secure the jobsite during non-working periods.
  • Park equipment to protect vulnerable machines and ensure easy access for refueling personnel.
  • Maintain erosion control devices and monitor signs and barricades.

Requirements:

  • Work in accordance with Company Safety Program and report any safety violations or concerns to the Foreman.
