As the Inventory Control Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials within KHS operations, particularly in the areas of shipping, receiving, inventory management, and logistics. This position also encompasses the responsibility for continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations related to shipping and receiving; develop, update, and monitor processes for the receipt of parts, fulfillment of shop orders, and timely delivery of customer orders.
- Administer the annual physical inventory count process, ensuring accurate reconciliation of variances and implementing improvements for enhanced accuracy.
- Manage the inventory supervisor to promote productivity, teamwork, and organization within the warehouse; design enhancements for process flow, considering factors such as turnover, size, and weight of items.
- Ensure the proper care and preservation of items throughout the receiving, storage, and shipping processes; utilize appropriate methods and equipment for handling and storage.
- Coordinate the distribution of parts to assembly departments in alignment with production schedules, including staging, inspecting, packing, and shipping to customers.
- Collaborate closely with product lines to ensure timely distribution of parts for assembly and facilitate the prompt return of unused parts to inventory.
- Work alongside the Supply Chain Director to analyze system data regarding non-usable, slow-moving, and excess inventories.
- Partner with the Supply Chain Director, Planning, Purchasing, and Inventory teams to enhance parts availability, inventory integrity, and accuracy, particularly through automatic replenishment strategies.
- Provide overall direction to address customer needs after regular hours.
- Establish work procedures, prepare schedules, and expedite workflows in collaboration with the Supply Chain Director, Planning, Purchasing, and Inventory teams.
- Lead initiatives to improve operations in conjunction with the Supply Chain Director and Business Intelligence, focusing on waste reduction, cost improvement, and profitability enhancement.
- Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators related to Inventory Control and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Share best practices across the organization to foster a culture of excellence.
- Supervise the inventory control team and directly oversee Inventory Control Supervisors managing Storekeepers and Leads.
- Conduct interviews, hiring, and training of new employees.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in inventory or warehouse management within a manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Familiarity with materials planning and enterprise resource planning systems, preferably SAP P82 S/4 HANA.
- APICS certification is preferred; if not certified, the candidate should obtain certification within a reasonable timeframe.
