The Ultrasound Technologist I is responsible for executing complex ultrasound procedures utilizing advanced radiographic equipment to achieve the highest quality diagnostic images for clinical assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and specialized sonographic procedures across varying levels of complexity.
  • Operate ultrasound scanners and related apparatus while adhering to prescribed safety protocols under the guidance of a Radiologist, ensuring age-appropriate standards of practice.
  • Guarantee the diagnostic integrity of all scans through comprehensive knowledge of ultrasound methodologies, medical conditions, and technical challenges.
  • Provide preliminary interpretations of ultrasound examinations, highlighting areas of potential concern to the attending physician.
  • Review patient records to verify ordered procedures and gather relevant clinical information from various sources.
  • Assist physicians during invasive and specialized procedures.
  • Welcome patients, guide them to examination rooms, and address their inquiries while providing reassurance.
  • Adapt communication and procedural explanations to meet the needs of patients.
  • Instruct patients and nursing staff on necessary preparations for upcoming procedures.
  • Maintain and clean ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct portable bedside examinations as required.
  • Provide training to colleagues, ultrasound students, residents, fellows, and visiting staff.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control standards.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and perform computer-related tasks, including entering reports and logging procedures.
  • Comply with University policies and safeguard institutional assets.

This position may involve additional responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification: Relevant specialty certification required; RVT Certification mandatory
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a related field
