The Ultrasound Technologist I will:

  • Conduct routine and specialized sonographic examinations across varying levels of complexity.
  • Execute advanced tasks associated with ultrasound machinery while adhering to established radiation safety protocols under the guidance of a Radiologist.
  • Ensure the diagnostic integrity of all imaging through comprehensive knowledge of ultrasound methodologies, medical conditions, and potential technical challenges.
  • Provide preliminary assessments of ultrasound findings to highlight areas of concern for the attending physician.
  • Review patient records to verify requested procedures and gather relevant clinical data from various sources.
  • Assist physicians during invasive and specialized procedures.
  • Welcome patients warmly, guide them to examination rooms, and address their inquiries about the procedures.
  • Adapt communication and procedural explanations to meet individual patient needs.
  • Clarify necessary preparations for upcoming procedures to patients and nursing staff.
  • Maintain and clean ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct bedside examinations as required.
  • Provide training to colleagues, ultrasound students, residents, and visiting staff.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control standards.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and perform computer-related tasks, including report entries and procedure logging.
  • Comply with University policies and safeguard institutional assets.

Core Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification: Relevant specialty certification required; RVT certification is mandatory.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of relevant professional experience.
