POSITION SUMMARY:

Nymbus, Inc. is in search of a highly qualified and seasoned Senior Python Engineer. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in database management systems, familiarity with industry-standard database modeling tools, and expertise in Python and Java for the maintenance and modernization of existing system components. This role will involve assessing and transitioning from a proprietary database management framework to a recognized industry-standard solution, as well as learning and enhancing existing system components developed in Python.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In-depth Knowledge of Database Structures: Candidates must exhibit proficiency in relational (and optionally non-relational) database concepts to programmatically ensure data layer consistency across environments.
  • Experience with Database Migration Technologies: Applicants should have demonstrable experience with tools such as Flyway, Liquibase, or similar technologies, along with an understanding of version control principles as they relate to database schema modifications.
  • SQL and Database Scripting Proficiency: Strong capabilities in crafting and optimizing SQL queries, scripts, and database procedures are essential.
  • Familiarity with Source Control Management (SCM) Systems: Candidates should be knowledgeable about SCM tools like Git, SVN, or Mercurial, particularly in managing database schema versions.
  • Understanding of CI/CD Pipelines: A solid grasp of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) concerning database deployments is required.
  • Knowledge of ORM Tools: Familiarity with Object-Relational Mapping tools (e.g., Hibernate, Entity Framework, Sequelize) is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Expertise in Jython: The candidate must be adept at learning and maintaining existing system components developed in Jython, with the goal of modernizing and enhancing these components.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Database Management Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in database management and architecture, with extensive knowledge of database design and automated data layer management.
  • Programming Background: At least 5 years in a Python/Jython development role, with a minimum of 1 year of extensive Jython usage.
  • Remote Work Experience: Preference for candidates who have experience working 100% remotely and collaborating with a distributed team.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
