Position Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated intern to join our Statistical Sciences and Statistics & Data Analytics divisions. This role involves engaging in statistical analysis and developing methodologies for our committed team focused on national security. The selected candidate will participate in projects, applied research, statistical consulting, and collaborative efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a technical team to conduct innovative statistical research.
  • Provide statistical expertise on data collection, analysis, and methodology development as part of interdisciplinary teams.

Compensation:

At Sandia, we recognize the significant contributions of our interns to national security efforts. Our interns receive competitive compensation based on their academic achievements, classification, and degree level. Pay rates will be determined during the hiring process and included in the offer package.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A completed bachelor's degree.
  • Enrollment in a full-time accredited graduate program in science, engineering, or mathematics for the spring term preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring).
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Availability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

We also desire candidates who possess:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in acquiring, preparing, and analyzing real-world data.
  • Enrollment in a master's or doctoral program in Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
  • Familiarity with at least one statistical programming language (e.g., R, MATLAB, Python).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE-Q security clearance.
