The Construction Safety Specialist will play a crucial role in overseeing safety measures at multiple job sites. This position requires a thorough understanding of safety regulations and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks associated with construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive safety inspections on construction sites to identify potential hazards.
- Develop and implement effective safety procedures and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and guidelines.
- Facilitate safety training programs for construction personnel and subcontractors.
- Conduct thorough investigations of accidents and incidents, compiling detailed reports.
- Provide expert advice to construction management on safety-related matters and suggest improvements.
- Collaborate with contractors and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Preferred certifications in construction safety (e.g., OSHA 500-hour, CSP, CHST).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of construction safety.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
Working Conditions:
The Construction Safety Specialist will primarily operate on job sites, which may involve exposure to various hazards. The role may necessitate travel to different locations and occasional work during weekends or evenings.
Physical Requirements:
The successful candidate must be capable of standing, walking, and climbing on uneven surfaces for extended durations, as well as lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and respirators will be required.
