We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse II, Oncology Specialist to join our team at Sutter Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and coordination in an acute patient setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Coordination: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, and develop individualized care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Patient Education: Provide patients and their families with comprehensive education on their conditions, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
- Transition of Care: Coordinate seamless transitions of care between healthcare providers, ensuring continuity and quality of care.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals through effective communication and collaboration.
- Adherence to Policies and Regulations: Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, and applicable laws and regulations to promote a safe and optimal patient experience.
Requirements:
- Education: Associate degree in nursing.
- Certification and Licensure: RN-Registered Nurse for the state where care is provided, BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider.
- Department-Specific Experience: OCN - Oncology Certified Nurse Certification, NIHSS-National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale within 90 days.
- Typical Experience: 2 years of recent relevant experience.
Skills and Knowledge:
- General Knowledge and Competence: Demonstrated general knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts, and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology.
- Healthcare Industry Knowledge: Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, best practices regarding patient care and privacy, and changes in local/state/federal regulations.
- Communication Skills: Possess written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
- Time Management and Organization: Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize patient care, assignments, and work within standardized policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet time-sensitive activities.
- Computer Applications: Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook).
- Teamwork and Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, while accomplishing multiple interventions in an ever-changing environment.
- Communication and Engagement: Ability to communicate and engage team members, patients, and families in a variety of stressful situations.
- Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Use existing procedures and critical thinking to identify and solve routine or complex problems.
- Confidentiality and Data Protection: Ensure the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI).
- Collaboration and Relationship-Building: Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
- Prioritization and Time Management: Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position with variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The schedule may change based on the needs of the department.
Benefits and Compensation:
