Job Title: Release Planner

Softworld Inc is seeking a skilled Release Planner to join our team. As a Release Planner, you will work with a cross-functional team responsible for overseeing the development and test planning activities for a satellite communications systems release.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the development of specific current release content objectives as part of a longer-term Increment Planning activity
  • Understand the release content objective impacts on each of the contributing development teams
  • Develop a high-level understanding of system functionality to validate and communicate impacts to Configuration Items
  • Set up milestones, determine communication plan and top-level release development schedule
  • Oversee the execution of the development and testing of a release across the multiple contributing teams by coordinating, progress tracking, cross-team communication
  • Ensure development schedules align for efficient use of system level lab testing/integration resources
  • Work with other System Engineers to ensure alignment and adequacy of test planning to help guarantee smooth System Test entry and execution
  • Interact with program management and development leads to coordinate, negotiate, and update priorities as needed
  • Track and drive resolution when teams are running into progress issues or aren't communicating effectively
  • Communicate release development status in monthly reviews
  • Communicate release content scope with deployment team and support their planning activities
  • Help identify process holes for lessons-learned improvement opportunities
Requirements:
  • Track record for successfully planning, testing and releasing large software releases on schedule
  • Experience setting up milestones, determine communication plan and top-level release development schedule
  • Creative thinker motivated to apply technical standards and methodologies to develop solutions
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to provide technical leadership and position others for success
  • Experience running internal and customer Failure Review Control Board (FRCB) meetings
  • Strong presentation and communications skills with experience in the art of negotiation and the ability to meet challenging customer requirements with win-win solutions
