Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of university equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of equipment, including mowers, tractors, and other machinery.
  • Turf Department Support: Provide technical support to the turf department, including the maintenance and repair of field equipment and facilities.
  • Facilities Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance and repair of university facilities, including the installation and repair of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Driving and Transportation: Drive a university vehicle on campus and off, and operate a forklift and other equipment as needed.
  • Emergency Response: Be available to respond to emergency situations outside of normal working hours, including nights and weekends.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field, including experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Skills: Strong technical skills, including knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, and experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
  • License: Class C operator's driver's license required.
Working Conditions
  • Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment: Furnished.
  • Weather Conditions: May work in all weather conditions.
  • Physical Demands: May work in extreme temperatures, and may be required to lift and move heavy objects.
