Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Driver III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our Regional Laundry team, you will be responsible for operating a heavy-duty tractor-trailer and/or medium-duty truck to transport cargo between state-owned facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a tractor-trailer and/or medium-duty truck to transport cargo between state-owned facilities, following a predetermined schedule.
  • Ensure that cargo is handled in a manner consistent with facility rules and regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and cargo space in a sanitary manner.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any issues related to the vehicle.
  • Process paperwork to fulfill departmental needs and requests.
  • Deliver cargo in a safe and timely manner, ensuring that cargo is properly loaded, tied down, and unloaded.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including actively participating in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Requirements:
  • Commercial Driver's License (Class A CDL) and medical card to operate an over-the-road tractor-trailer.
  • Knowledge of safe motor vehicle operations and preventative maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safe cargo loading/unloading, storage, and securing methods.
  • Ability to use lift gates, pallet jacks, and other loading/unloading equipment.
  • Ability to possess and maintain appropriate certification for forklift or other equipment required by the position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people with diverse backgrounds.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in all weather conditions and safely operating vehicles with limited visibility. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations is essential.
