Job Summary:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern to support our product development activities and factory support of existing products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mechanical engineering support for new product development and existing product factory support.
- Translate product requirements into mechanical specifications and test plans for development.
- Execute verification testing as defined by mechanical specifications and test plans.
- Conduct design analysis and testing to prove design meets customer requirements.
- Understand customer needs, generate test procedures, and execute tests.
- Generate and process engineering change orders as required.
- Work with mechanical designers on CAD models and part documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Skills:
- CAD or analysis (FEA) tools exposure and/or experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures, and mechanisms.
- Familiarity with transducer instrumentation, data collection, and/or automation and software programming for numerical analysis.
- Ability to apply principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities.
- Ability to generate free body diagrams, determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.
- Working knowledge of one programming language.
- Familiarity with finite element methods and fatigue and damage tolerance principles.
