Therapeutic Activities Specialist

The Experiential Therapist is responsible for the development, planning, implementation, facilitation, direction, and evaluation of experiential therapy programs across various specialized treatment areas. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the psychosocial functioning of patient groups and the application of expressive activities within a therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct and coordinate experiential therapy assessments and interventions, ensuring timely communication of observations to the care team.
2. Facilitate daily experiential therapy groups and provide individual sessions for patients unable to attend group activities.
3. Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries while providing therapeutic support.
4. Collaborate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery.
5. Offer crisis intervention and support to patients and their families as necessary.
6. Assist in maintaining a safe environment for both patients and staff, participating in safety rounds and emergency interventions as required.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, with enrollment in a Master's program.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Licensure/Certification:
- Required: Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving requirements.
- Preferred: Current certification by the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
Experience:
- Required: Knowledge of experiential therapy related to mental health and rehabilitation.
- Preferred: Experience as an experiential therapist in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficient in electronic medical record systems and MS Office applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, and use of a keyboard.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and climbing stairs.
