Your Role at EXP
Our Infrastructure & Transportation Practice offers comprehensive planning, design, and construction engineering services for various projects, including roadways, bridges, water resources, rail, transit, and aviation.

We are looking for a dynamic Senior Structural Engineer who will work under the guidance of the Department Manager – Bridges & Structures, focusing on highway and railway structures.

Project types will vary and include:

  • New structures
  • Rehabilitation of existing structures
  • Inspection and evaluation of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and railway facilities

These projects will involve a wide range of structure types, foundations, and materials for clients such as local government agencies.

Key Responsibilities
Your daily tasks will include:
  • Leading the structural design for various project types, including complex bridge designs
  • Overseeing the planning and schematic layout of new structures
  • Conducting analysis and design calculations in accordance with applicable design codes
  • Preparing plan drawings, construction specifications, and design calculations
  • Leading on-site inspections and condition assessments of existing structures
  • Performing construction and life cycle cost estimates
  • Supervising project construction administration, including reviews of shop drawings
  • Directing staff engineers and technicians to meet project deadlines and budget requirements
  • Assisting project managers with scoping and budgeting for structural work
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • 10 years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering
  • A Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Wisconsin or the ability to obtain one
  • Bridge inspection experience, including completion of the NHI Course
  • Prior experience with complex bridge projects is preferred

Additionally, knowledge of bridge analysis, design, and detailing in accordance with local agency requirements is essential. Familiarity with structural analysis software and proficiency in AutoDesk Civil3D and MS Office is also required.
