We are seeking a highly skilled Tier II Network Technician/Configuration Management Network Technician to join our team at NewGen Technologies in Maryland.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices, creating and maintaining system component records, responding to and resolving incident tickets, and establishing consistency of system performance with its requirements and design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices.
  • Create and maintain system component records, including physical locations and links between items.
  • Respond to and resolve incident tickets in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Establish and maintain consistency of system performance with its requirements and design.
  • Draft and implement standard network change requests.
  • Coordinate with external Configuration Management stakeholders as required.
  • Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades, including knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process.
  • Develop policy for documenting and changing baseline project configuration items.
  • Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching, including VLANs, Port Security, and Thin Configs.
  • Utilize complex network analysis tools to identify and correct problems in the network, maintaining logs and records associated with reported problems or situations.
  • Familiarity with layer 3 protocols, including OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, and GRE, as well as Visio, ServiceNow, and Confluence.
  • Support operations from a Configuration Management perspective, administering networks, including hardware, systems software, applications software, and configurations.
  • Maintain network configuration baselines to ensure DISA STIG guidelines are followed, providing feedback to Network Engineers on new configurations.
  • Document and change baseline project network configuration items.
  • Maintain historical Configuration Management records and requisite knowledge in approved shared databases.
  • Provide support to the Configuration Management Board, scheduling meetings, developing agendas, and entering board-related data in databases.
  • Create and provide drawing, diagramming, and network mapping expertise and support to the Configuration Management Team.
  • Manage Configuration Management support to the creation of IT-IA-IM software executables to environments.
  • Utilize complex network analysis tools to identify and build network maps for enterprise-level services.
  • Provide support to the Configuration Control Board, scheduling meetings, developing agendas, and entering Configuration Management-related data in databases.
  • Establish, train, and maintain network drawing standards to serve all contract requirements.
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
Requirements

Required Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Poly

Candidate must have 10 years of experience, which can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, master's and 4 years, bachelor's and 6 years, associates and 8 years, or HS diploma and 10 years. Additional required qualifications include Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
