Job Summary

The University Police Department at San Diego State University is seeking a seasoned law enforcement professional to fill the role of Special Events Police Officer. This position is responsible for protecting students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and traffic/parking regulations
  • Apprehend violators
  • Provide general information and assistance to the public
  • Assist in investigations
  • Patrol campus buildings and grounds
  • Control crowds during events or disturbances
  • Guard property
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, property damage, fires, law violations, thefts, and disturbances of the peace
  • Gather evidence, make arrests, and appear in court as required
Requirements
  • Current or retired peace officer with a California law enforcement agency
  • Current Level 1 reserve police officer with a California law enforcement agency
  • Must meet current employment standards of the Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) and have completed POST-approved Field Training program at home agency
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to emergency situations. The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
