Job Summary

Collegiate Hotel Group is seeking a highly skilled Property Controller to join its team of hospitality enthusiasts at Graduate Lincoln. As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the hotel, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct responsibility for Property Accounting and collaboration with department heads to accomplish accuracy and financial goals.
  • Responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly process for all accounting functions, including Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Income Audit, and Cash Management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions related to hotel operations during the calendar month, including proper accruals for un-invoiced expenses such as utilities, maintenance, and inventory purchases.
  • Lead the monthly forecast process by collaborating with the General Manager and department heads to develop and manage monthly forecasts and budgets.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets.
  • Continuously assess and improve financial processes.
  • Monitor and develop direct reports, including providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, and evaluations.
  • Lead the annual budget process and maintain controls on spending to ensure budgetary limits are met.
  • Regularly monitors and audits systems to ensure accuracy of data and support the achievement of revenue goals.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors on-site to ensure accurate reporting and provide support to ensure timelines are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Accounting/Finance or Business Education.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience preferred, preferably in a hotel environment.
  • Three to five years in an accounting leadership role with a preference for hospitality experience.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to constructively influence peers.
  • Detail-oriented; strives for excellence in all assignments.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the accounting department.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to apply mathematical operations to tasks.
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, with most proficiency in Excel.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
