Cutter Operator Job Description

Mittera is seeking a skilled Cutter Operator to join our Finishing team. As a Cutter Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and safely operating cutting equipment. You will also prepare products for packing, collating, or binding, ensuring they meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and adjust cutter machines according to instructions and job requirements
  • Operate cutter machines and ancillary equipment to cut materials to desired dimensions
  • Evaluate and make decisions about product quality while cutting
  • Review job tickets and plan work processes to meet customer specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as blade replacement, lubrication, and waxing
  • Notify supervision of mechanical/electrical problems and complete work orders for parts/repairs
  • Prepare load flags on each outgoing load showing the next operation or destination
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 1-3 years of previous cutting experience preferred
  • Full comprehension of reading work instructions and business memos
  • Effective communication skills with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to use basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements, and critical thinking, to solve practical problems
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to prevent errors and solve problems on all prepress machines
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in stressful situations and meet stringent deadlines
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling, and bending
  • Pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity, and coordination
  • Requires near visual acuity
  • Requires working around and operating departmental equipment
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility
  • Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances
Work Environmental Factors:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials. A production employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
