Vet Academy Software Development Engineer 2 – Military and Military Spouse Opportunity

As a Software Development Engineer 2 on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented group of engineers to design, build, and operate a suite of massive-scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design architectures and create new services that operate reliably at an extremely large scale.
- Evaluate and improve the security of deployed systems.
- Identify behavioral characteristics of services and define key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Utilize a deep understanding of services to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations.
- 1-4 years of experience with application development.
- Strong distributed systems fundamentals.
- Proficiency in a modern language such as Java, Python, Ruby, or Go.
- Experience in coding.
- Skilled in one or more of the following: PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, network architecture, application security.
- Strong interest in participation and contribution to open-source projects.
- Familiarity with several of the following technologies: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud), CI/CD systems (TeamCity/Jenkins), Docker, Linux (Oracle Linux/RedHat).
- Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable in complex, rapidly evolving software development environments.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Ability to drive, follow, and evangelize cross-team processes.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience running large-scale customer-facing web services.
- Experience using distributed source code management systems such as Git.
- Experience using ticket tracking systems such as JIRA.
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
- Experience in startups or fast-paced enterprise technology development environments.
- Commitment to capturing and maintaining institutional knowledge.
- Government clearance is a plus.
