Job Overview

The Housekeeping Attendant collaborates with the Housekeeping Management Team to support Room Attendants across designated floors or buildings. Responsibilities include collecting soiled linens and transporting them to the laundry area, delivering fresh linens to Room Attendant carts, and managing waste throughout the hotel premises. The role may also involve assisting with laundry operations and maintaining cleanliness in public areas, exterior entrances, and parking facilities. Special projects may be assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold the standards of Sonesta Service in all guest and client interactions, adhering to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. principles.
  • Assist Room Attendants with heavy items such as mattresses and linens, ensuring timely delivery of necessary supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in floor closets and corridors, which includes trash removal, cleaning surfaces, and ensuring floors are swept, mopped, or vacuumed.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests, ensuring efficient service delivery.
  • Clean designated areas, including public restrooms and storage spaces, to maintain overall hygiene.
  • Report any required repairs or unsafe conditions to the supervisor for immediate attention.
  • Address special requests and guest complaints, ensuring the delivery of housekeeping supplies to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Minimize waste of supplies and amenities across all housekeeping areas.
  • Handle lost and found items according to established protocols.
  • Occasionally assist with deep cleaning initiatives as needed.
  • When assigned to laundry duties, monitor supplies and equipment to ensure functionality, operate washers and dryers per hotel standards, and inspect soiled linens for damage.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through effective communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all levels.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Previous experience in housekeeping is preferred.
  • Experience in the extended stay industry is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is preferred; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
  • Basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics are preferred.
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move throughout the facility regularly.
  • Capability to carry, lift, or pull items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Regular use of commercial cleaning chemicals is required.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is necessary.
